Wish to scan a wide area in short amount of time and obtain images with high precision –there had been many technical obstacles to achieve this, such as the resolution degradation in the periphery of FOV due to the high-speed rotation of the scanner. Our cutting-edge high-speed data sampling technologies realized 0.35s/rot scanning which can be used not only for cardiac scanning but also whole-body scanning for SCENARIA.

SCENARIA will change the general trend of CT.

In order to fully answer the needs of the patient, the operator and the doctor, image quality, workflow and user-friendliness have been refined. Hitachi aims for an all-round CT with absolutely no room for compromise. 64ch/128slice CT SCENARIA is reborn.

0.35s/rot, which can be used for not only the heart but also for any regions of the whole body such as the abdomen and the lower extremities, and the CORE method, which reduces various artifacts at high-pitch scanning, these features achieve both high-speed scanning and high image quality.

High-speed view rate

In order to secure sufficient data density in the periphery area even for scanning of the maximum FOV size, not only the heart but also all regions can be scanned at 0.35s/rot. This is realized by high-speed view rate of max.2,880 views/s data collection system developed exclusively for SCENARIA.

CORE method (3D image reconstruction algorithm)

The CORE(Cone-beam Reconstruction) method optimizes the range of acquired data used for reconstruction per pixel.

By using the whole range of the detector efficiently, more data can become usable compared to the Feldkamp method. Streak artifacts, which tend to be generated from the costal bone in high-pitch scanning and motion artifacts caused by the movement of the intestinal tract can be reduced resulting in good quality images.

Intelli IP – a new technique to reduce image noise generated by a low dose
IntelliEC – a technique to control image noise at an indentifiable level
A minimal dose is pursued with two techniques with different concepts.

 

Intelli IP Advanced

The new advanced mode was added to the Intelli IP, Intelli IP Advanced, that is an iterative processing in which the statistical processing precision has been improved as compared with the conventional Intelli IP. Specifically, Intelli IP Advanced is a processing that, after reducing the noise in the projection space based on a high-precision statistical model by an iterative processing, tunes image quality based on anatomical and statistical characteristic in the image space. It is able to greatly reduce the amount of image noise and streak artifacts.

 

 

IntelliEC Plus

This new feature modulates the tube current, taking into account of the noise reduction from Intelli IP Advanced. Target SD can be easily reached with lower tube current in comparison to AEC without Intelli IP. By applying both iterative processing and dose optimization, a more effective dose reduction can be expected.

 

 

Having an appropriate dose check is always required. Not only can the dose information be displayed on the screen, it can be shared within the entire facility, thereby providing a suitable environment for keeping awareness of the dose.

 

Simple Dose Report

The dose information can be saved as the secondary capture and sent to PACS like the CT image. The requesting doctor can easily confirm the dose information together with the CT image by using the image viewer of PACS.

 

DICOM Dose SR

The dose information can be sent to PACS as a structured report. It uses DICOM standard which was officially standardized in 2008.

 

Exposure should be reduced as well as scanning the heart in high precision. Cardiac CT scanning, which is now being used for various applications from screening to thorough checkup is made simpler and more accessible.

 

IntelliCenter

Improvement of spatial resolution using the lateral slide table

SCENARIA enables the lateral slide mechanism(*) which has enhanced flexibility in the lateral direction of the table. By positioning the scanning region in the center of rotation, spatial resolution is expected to be improved.(*Optional)

 

Less exposure at cardiac study

A Cardiac Bow-tie Filter (X-ray compensation filter) is equipped as a standard. As this enables narrower X-ray beam than the filter for the body, by using it together with the table lateral slide mechanism, exposure can be reduced by about 1/4 for whole area (Inside and outside of the FOV) and about 1/3 for outside the FOV.

 

 

IntelliEC Cardiac

IntelliEC Cardiac modulates the tube current under retrospective scanning based on the phase of cardiac cycle. With this function, scanning can be done with optimized dose during diastole and with a low dose during systole. Therefore, as compared to a cardiac scan with consistent amount of dose, a lowered dose can be achieved. Dose modulation can be set up to 2 phases and the maximum dose can be set for each of them.

 

 

CardioConductor
(Recommended cardiac scan parameters setting)

CardioConductor is the function which automatically set the recommendation scan condition by using the range of heart rate during the breath-holding practice.

Breath-holding practice can be conducted from both the console and the scanner (Touch Vision). The setting of scan condition is selectable from “Auto”, which puts weight on simple scanning or “Manual” which enables to customize condition, depending on various scan situations.

 

CardioHarmony
(Automatic cardiac phase selection)

The moving level is extracted based on images created per phases for the whole heart. System will search the minimum movement phase in the heartbeat and propose the optimal reconstruction phase. The time for searching optimal phase, which has been the bottle neck for the workflow of cardiac CT, can be dramatically reduced within one minute at a minimum.

 

 

What we pursued with the design of SCENARIA is the openness and comfortableness. Providing comfort environment to patient enables to lighten the technician’s work load and also gives stable examinations.

 

Open design

Large bore

The large bore which is bigger by 50mm than the diameter of the ordinary aperture is useful not only for patients with a large frame but also for older patients who have difficulties of lifting their arms up.

 

 

Wide table and lateral slide table

“The wide table top with the width of 475mm” and “the lateral sliding mechanism* which moves 80mm in both left and right”, these two features enable to set a patient’s position easily, not only for cardiac scanning but for shoulders or other regions too.

 

Touch Vision: A friendly environment for examinations

You can explain to the patients about the examination or the timing at which he or she should hold their breath using a large LCD monitor. Explanations are given in letters and illustrations in an easy-to-understand manner. It is compatible with 10 different languages.

 

Breath Guide

The breath guide display that informs the timing of the breath hold can be found in 3 different places inside the gantry, which makes recognition easier. With the auto voice and the display. Breath guide will surely be useful to the patient.
